
The Daughters of the American
Revolution (DAR) is a non-profit, non-political
volunteer service organization. It was founded in
Washington D.C. in 1890, and was incorporated by
Congress in 1896, to promote education, historic
preservation, and patriotism. The Colorado State DAR was
founded in 1895. There are currently 36 Chapters serving
Colorado.
The Mount Lookout Chapter of the DAR
has managed the Golden Pioneer Museum as a community
service for over 40 years. The DAR also provides
scholarships and places historical markers throughout
