Golden Transcript Articles

Golden is fortunate enough to have had its own newspaper, The Golden Transcript, almost since the founding of the town. George West started publishing The Transcript in 1866. One hundred and thirty years' worth of Transcripts are available at the Golden Library--a tremendous resource for people doing historic research.

The Transcript also publishes articles on the history of the Golden area several times a year. They have graciously allowed The Golden Pioneer Museum to reprint them on this web site.

Please note that the research for these articles was conducted by various local historians. While we cannot guarantee their accuracy, we know you will enjoy reading them.

Note: These articles have been retyped from our old photocopies of the original articles. We plan to increase this collection over time. If you're looking for a useful and interesting volunteer project, please consider helping us with this re-typing effort! Help us make Golden's history available to the next generation!
